The Department of Communications Engineering (ANT) of the Institute of Telecommunications and High-Frequency Technique (ITH) at the University of Bremen deals with modern transmitter and receiver concepts in the field of mobile radio communications for several years. Therefore, we can rely on a long-year experience in the field of digital signal processing.
During our research activities systems like GSM, UMTS and Wireless LAN were investigated and a multitude of algorithms were developed. Main focus of our projects are the multicarrier concept OFDM, the investigation of so-called Relay networks, as well as multiantenna technologies (MIMO). Another important scope is audio and speech signal processing. Joining the guiding theme "Adaptive Communications" of the Technology Center of Computer Science (TZI) we are currently developing and enhancing future mobile transmission systems. To this end, adaptivity gets more and more crucial.
Teachings offered in our institute include lessons and labs concerning basics of analogue communication, single and multi-carrier concepts for digital communication, as well as focuses in digital signal processing, audio and speech signal processing, channel coding and selected topics in mobile radio communications. Likewise, students may select interesting topics to accomplish their Project and Master theses.
