Information theory provides uppper bounds for the capabilities of communiation systems. Similar to the channel capacity in point-to-point transmissions, a rate region can be defined for multi-user systems.

In this thesis, results known from the literature shall be collected and explained. The optimal transmit strategies shall be compared to suboptimum variants like TDMA and OFDMA.
