Abstract:

In this work coded OFDM based two-way relaying neworks are considered, where both single-antenna terminals expect information exchange with each other via one multi-antenna relay using Decode-Forward (DF). In case of the 3-phase scenario, the terminals transmit to the relay in successive time slots such that spatial diversity can be exploited at the relay. On the other hand, both terminals transmit to the relay simultaneously in the 2-phase scenario, resulting in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. To this end, MIMO detection technologies such as ZF / MMSE equlization or successive interferent cancellation (SIC) can be applied at the relay. Subsequently, the messages from both terminals are network-coded, e.g., using the XOR operation at the bit level, which are further broadcast back to the terminals using space-time codes (STC) or cyclic delay diversity (CDD) and so on.

The focus of this work is the implementation, verification and comparison of different MIMO technologies applied to the two-way relaying networks. Therefore, the knowledge in the lecture "Advanced Topics in Digital Communications" and familiarization with MATLAB are of key importance to accomplish the work.
