Abstract:

Motivation:

In an H-QAM system, different QAM constellations are superimposed, resulting in a hierarchical QAM system.

To further improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the receiver, various techniques can be applied.

One of them is the so-called constellation shaping. In this process, the average transmit energy is reduced.

This is achieved because constellation points from an H-QAM system are transmitted with different probabilities

Points with high energy should be transmitted less frequently than points with low energy.

For this, knowledge of the probability of occurrence of individual constellation points is fundamental.

Target:

Different distribution functions for the individual layers of the H-QAM system are to be considered.

The goal is to fulfill different quality criteria (BER, AVEP, PAPR) and to improve the system.
