Abstract:

The institutes ANT and ZARM of university of Bremen work on the research of non-terrestrial networks, with a focus of using satellite constellations in a low Earth orbit for communication applications on Earth. In this master thesis the use of such a constellation setup shall be evaluated considering two different scenarios: one emergency scenario, where a limited bandwidth is sufficient for crucial communication, but the reception angle of receivers may be reduced.

The second scenario covers the support of terrestrial networks during special events, where a higher bandwidth is necessary and the receiver antennas can receive signals in a wider range.
