Abstract:

Recently relaying schemes, where beside a source and a sink also additional terminals are incorporated into the communication, have gained considerable interest in order to guaranty robust and reliable communication also in the border area of the cells. An easy realying schemes is given by the Amplify-and-Forward (AF) protocol, where the relay transmits an amplified copy of its receive signal without performing any quantization or further processing of the receive signal. Consequently, the input noise of the realy is also amplified and transmitted.

In this thesis several implementation issues of AF relaying systems have to be analyzed. The coloring of the effective noise after the transmission over frequency selective channels has to be analyzed. Furthermore, frame structures containing information and pilot symbols have to be evaluated. Therefore, the fundamentals of the AF protocol have to be investigated and have to be implemented in Matlab. The performance should be analyzed with respect to simulation results.

In order to process this thesis, the lecture Channel Coding and a basic knowledge in Matlab is essential.
