Abstract:

For coherent detection the receiver has to know the channel. Usually, training or pilot sequences are transmitted which enable an easy estimation of the channel impulse response. Of course this estimation becomes more accurate the more pilot data is available. On the other hand bandwidth efficiency degrades in this case, because no information is transmitted during the pilot phase.

In this project, methods for pilot aided channel estimation shall be implemented in Matlab. Afterwards, the time and transmit power spent for training shall be optimized.
