Abstract:

Reverberation is caused in enclosed spaces by numerous reflections of a signal emitted by a sound source until it is picked up by a microphone or the human ear. Reverberation decreases speech intelligibility and reverberant sound is perceived as sounding distant and echoic.

In this thesis effects of speech dereverberation algorithms shall be evaluated by means of speech intteligibility and speech quality. Various objective measures that can be used to evaluate speech dereverberation algorithms by means of dereverberation are compared to subjective listening tests.
