Abstract:

Motivations:

5G New radio has a very strict requirement on BLER, for example, URLLC requires the BLER at the order of 10^{-9}. Considering the complexity of coded systems and the rarity of error events at high SNR, simulation time of naive Monte Carlo method becomes prohibitive. Importance sampling is a method which could imporve the simulation efficiency and reduce the variance of estimates.

Obejectives:

Understand importance sampling methods. Utilize importance sampling to improve the efficiency of LDPC simulations.

Requirements:

Good understading in channel coding, probability and statistics. Programming skills in Python.
