Motivation:
In traditional cellular random access, slotted ALOHA (SA), a simple distributed access method that provides satisfactory performance for human-oriented traffic. However, due to the significant growth in the number of access requirements, the collisions from the massive number of access must be handled and using traditional SA may meet bottlenecks in the access network. Therefore, the so called Coded Random Access has been brought forward to boot the performance by exploiting the capture effect. Besides, in the physical layer, Compressive Sensing based Multi-User Detection (CS-MUD) exploits sparsity in multi-user detection to achieve a joint activity and data detection, which can be used to facility the capture effect quite well. Thus, one idea is to combine the Coded Random Access with CS-MUD to highly improve the system performance.

Goal:
This work aims to investigate the performance of Coded Random Access together with CS-MUD. In order to achieve that, there are some background knowledge must be acquired, such as CS-MUD, Coded Random Access, Capture Effect and so on. The main focus of the work is to investigate the performance of this combination based on different CS detection algorithms. Further extension will be considered depending on the working process.

Requirements:
MATLAB programming skills and knowledge of communication technologies, maybe channel coding are required.
