Dr. Shayan Hassanpour is currently working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the Department of Communications Engineering at the University of Bremen, Germany. He received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering (electronics) from the University of Mazandaran, Iran, in 2011, the M.Sc. degree (program's award winner) in communications engineering from the Ulm University, Germany, in 2014, and the Dr.-Ing. degree (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering (communications) from the University of Bremen, Germany, in 2022. Over the last couple of years, he has been prolifically contributing to IEEE top-tier journals and flagship international conferences on his PhD topic, the Information Bottleneck method. His other research interests include applied information theory, MU/MIMO systems, resilient communication networks, statistical signal processing, and applications of modern deep learning in the design of communication systems. Dr. Hassanpour received the 2021’s VDE/ITG Best Paper Award and the 2023’s OHB Best Doctoral Dissertation Award. His research has contributed to Germany’s several high-profile 6G initiatives, including 6G-ANNA, Open6GHub, and 6G-TakeOff.
